Conflicting reports about he raid are emanating from Washington. The first reports said that OBL was using a woman as a shield and was firing at the US JSOC personnel. The new reports seem to indicate that OBL was unarmed, and there was no human shield. The original reports said that OBL was killed by US forces. Now the new reports from the Western Intelligence Agencies say that a OBLs body guard shot the most wanted criminal in the world.

Reports emanating from Islamabad seem to indicate that the original plan had called taking away all or many of the residents of Wazir House. After the chopper crashed or was shot down, the Americans changed their plans, and apparently took away one of Bin Laden’s son. It is amazing that with all of OBLs wealth he did not booby trap the compound or add sophisticated equipment which would have prevented the raid from taking place. It is astonishing that the walls did not contain explosives or other EID type of devices that would have slowed down an assault. What is most surprising is the fact that OBL had not built any tunnels or escape routes from this compound. The two areas adjacent to the compound had courtyards that were perfect landing spots for US choppers. Who planned that?OBL should have checked the credentials of the architect more carefully.

One would have figured that there would be a lock-box or vault-room which would keep OBL safe, with an escape route to a house next door. Living in plain site opposite a Police Station just doesn’t make sense.

Apparently the ISI had raided the complex in 2003 while it was searching for Al-Qaeda operative, Abu Faraj al-Libi. The ISI claims that  it “had been sharing information with Western Intelligence Agencies and other friendly intelligence agencies since 2009″ about this compound. This seems to be validated by US Ambassador who replaced Richard Holbrooke.

THE Western Intelligence Agencies-ISI spat continues–Its head is taking pot shots at the ISI, like everyone else.

  • Bin Laden’s young daughter had said she saw her father shot.
  • The compound in Abbottabad, just 100 km (62 miles) from the capital, was raided when under construction in 2003.
  • There were 17-18 people in the compound at the time of the attack.
  • The Americans took away one person still alive, possibly a Bin Laden son.
  • Those who survived the attack included a wife, a daughter and eight to nine other children, not apparently Bin Laden’s; all had their hands tied by the Americans.
  • The surviving Yemeni wife said they had moved to the compound a few months ago Bin Laden’s daughter, aged 12 or 13, saw her father shot.
  • The Americans wanted to take away the surviving women and children but had to abandon the plan when one of the helicopters malfunctioned.
  • The ISI has recovered some documents from the compound.
  • The Western Intelligence Agencies is  going through a large number of hard drives and storage devices seized in the raid.

The question being asked by most analysts is why was a high value target like OBL killed? The JSOC team could have taken tranquilizer guns and smoke bombs to take out the personnel. They could have surrounded the place and snuffed out the bodyguards. Why did they have to kill OBL. OBL alive could have given the Western Intelligence Agencies a lot of information about 911 and other terror attacks in Kenya and Europe. Why was it necessary to shoot the man that could have provided encyclopedic knowledge about terror against the US? This question is unanswered. JSOC went  in with over-whelming force. Why didn’t they shoot OBL in the legs to make him drop to the ground and then take him out as a medical evacuee? or Did they?

President Obama is not going to release the pictures, and the video of the operation is not being made public. A lot of questions have been left unanswered, and only history will be able to describe what really happened in Waziristan House.
